MUdiAC – Open Air Museum of Contemporary Art of Proceno is an innovative project that transforms the village into an open-air artistic-cultural center. Born from an idea by Ivano Goracci and Mayor Roberto Pinzi , the project is inspired by the concept of an open-air museum, which began in Italy in the 1970s. Italian and international artists are invited to reinterpret the territory through installations, visual language, and storytelling that connect with the history and identity of Proceno.
The artworks are not placed inside a traditional building but are integrated into the urban landscape , in alleyways, squares, and scenic corners of the village. The museum can be visited freely, at any time, with no entrance ticket.
A Community-Based Project
MUdiAC is created with and for the community. The museum grows thanks to the direct involvement of local people: cafés, shops, artisans, and residents all play an active role in the artistic journey.
A network of local info points provides maps, guides, and signs to help visitors explore the village. Workshops, meetings, and an urban observatory support ongoing and active participation.
Art, identity and territory
MUdiAC is more than just a museum — it’s a living, shared, and ever-evolving space.
It brings together art, memory, innovation, and local identity, offering a cultural model that positions Proceno as an artistic landmark in the Alto Lazio area.
This project makes art a driving force for social connection, local revitalization, and collective growth.
